MISSION

Environmental stewardship and natural resources technology solutions

Protecting the environment and managing natural resources requires clear data and coordinated action. Federal agencies face challenges such as environmental damage, habitat loss, pollution, and sustainable land use.

INCATech supports these missions with geospatial analytics, secure data integration, and public-facing digital tools. Our solutions help agencies track ecosystems, address legacy pollution and safety issues, and strengthen conservation.

Our technical practice areas are the backbone of how we execute environmental stewardship and natural resource projects.

Core capabilities supporting environmental missions

Geospatial intelligence and spatial modeling

""

INCATech uses mapping and spatial modeling to visualize environmental conditions such as species distribution, land use, and pollution impacts. Our GIS specialists build tools that help scientists and regulators view layered geospatial data, strengthening analysis of cumulative effects and environmental context.

User-centered design for public and scientific users

""

INCATech applies user-centered design (UCD) to create tools that support scientists, policymakers, and the public. Community members can use interactive maps to understand environmental conditions in their area. Our designs improve usability, access, and engagement across audiences.

Enterprise data management and integration

""

Environmental programs rely on large datasets, including water quality measurements, wildlife surveys, and climate logs. INCATech integrates these sources into unified platforms that improve consistency and support cross-analysis. For example, systems can connect air quality data with public health information to support stronger environmental decision-making.

Secure cloud environments for data sharing and protection

""

Environmental agencies share data with the public and across government. INCATech implements secure cloud environments that support broad access to open data while protecting sensitive information. This includes proprietary industry submissions and personal data used in environmental health studies.

Proven environmental solutions in operational use

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Restoration of Abandoned Mine Sites (RAMS)

INCATech supported the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers RAMS program by applying geospatial analysis to locate and assess abandoned mines across the country. Our work mapped sites and evaluated risk factors such as proximity to waterways and communities. This helped focus on remediation and direct cleanup resources to the sites with the highest environmental and public risk.

Abandoned Mine Land Inventory System (e-AMLIS)

In partnership with the Department of the Interior’s Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement, INCATech enhanced the Abandoned Mine Land Inventory System (e-AMLIS). We improved this nationwide database and application to better track thousands of abandoned mine land sites. This work included integrating large datasets across states and time periods and expanding reporting capabilities. The improved system helps agencies identify hazards and track progress as teams reclaim and restore mine lands.

PaintCare – Spatial Accessibility Analysis

INCATech supported PaintCare, a product stewardship program focused on recycling unused paint, by conducting spatial accessibility analysis. Our team analyzed paint drop-off locations relative to population centers to assess convenience and network coverage. This work helped identify gaps where more drop-off sites could improve access for communities.

How INCATech supports environmental stewardship and natural resources missions

""

Mine reclamation and land management support applies geospatial analysis and web tools to plan restoration projects and guide land use decisions.

Environmental data integration solutions build centralized repositories and analytics that support regulatory compliance and inform policy decisions. For example, systems can merge emissions data and generate compliance reporting.

Sustainable resource management analytics support scenario modeling for issues such as drought planning, water allocation, and forest management.

Spatial accessibility analytics assess how parks, green spaces, or environmental burdens affect communities. These tools support environmental justice programs by identifying underserved areas.
